If you have been following me on any social media platform, you have seen my posts about my nap time volcano!
Isn’t she a beauty?
Well, she got even more beautiful after my husband and daughter painted her!
They are rather the artistic duo together!!!
Well, I created this wonderful science master piece with a kit I found created by the Smithsonian.

So, the kit comes with super simple instructions on how to make the volcano. It is relatively quick to make and fun! The box says ages 8 and up, but I made it more toddler friendly by creating the volcano during nap time. However, when we do this again, I think I will just create the base pieces and have my lil firecracker help me with the plaster and water part! What toddler doesn’t love making a mess. 😜.
So, after its completely painted (which is optional but THERE IS GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT….*awesome*), just add your baking soda and vinegar. This is not provided by the kit, but we always have this for other household needs.
And now I present our ERUPTION!!
So, we have done this chemical reaction at least a hundred times and every time she is just as excited as the first time. Its priceless. Can you hear just how excited she was!!!
To make the process more educational, I made some coloring sheets that give the chemical formulas for baking soda & vinegar. I don’t expect my lil firecracker to fully grasp that concept, but just used it as another simple way to review letters and pre-reading. I explained it as in “science language, baking soda is called sodium bicarbonate. It’s like a nick name or another name for it.” Check them out and tell me what you think.

How many times have you done this experiment ? It is super simple and fun! Now I want you to post pictures of your little ones beautiful masterpiece of the Volcanic Coloring Sheets to my Facebook Page or tweet a picture using hashtag #JustMeOMaya. Or is Instagram more your style? If so,make sure to use my hashtag! Don’t forget to connect with me on Pinterest!
Enjoy!

I love the video and hearing the excitement!!
OMG! It was the cutest thing! We did this over and over a few more times and she was excited everytime! We started simple science experiments around 18 months, so I am excited for you & Cataleya. 😊
Oh my goodness! So much fun!
It is really fun and super easy to do!
