January 17 is Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s birthday. To honor her, I created a coloring sheet.
My daughter had a fun time coloring the sheet. She even added her own list to Mrs. Obama’s hair.

A great book to read today is MICHELLE’S GARDEN by Sharee Miller
Summary:
The picture book, MICHELLE’S GARDEN is a fun account of how First Lady Michelle Obama started a garden at the White House. The story begins with a young Michelle and her daily life as a kid.
It then shows Mrs. Obama as a Mom and feeding her children nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables.
The story continues with the Obama family entering the White House as the First Family.
While in the White House, Mrs. Obama has an idea to plant a garden but there is one slight dilemma. She has never grown a garden.
The story follows the steps she took to grow the garden, how it turned and how it is still on the grounds of the White House.
Review:
I enjoyed reading this cute story. If you have a stubborn eater, this book is a fun way to encourage healthy eating habit like eating more fruits and vegetables. The book also shows the power of community and charity. In order for the garden to succeed, lots of people had to work together which is a great message for life for young readers. I really enjoyed that it included instructions on how to start a garden at home. The story shows how relatable a Former First Lady is just like me and you and provides good inspiration for children.
I would highly recommend this book. If you would like to pick up a copy of the book, follow the link below.
