For Young Future Herpetologists

For the past few summers, we have traveled to South Carolina for vacation. In 2023, we discovered Alligator Adventure, and it has since become a yearly tradition. My oldest son, my young revolutionary, loves reptiles, so this is the perfect adventure for him.

This year, we had the wonderful opportunity to watch them feed the big alligators. My kids also got the chance to pet a baby alligator. It’s always a great time, and I would highly recommend a visit if you’re in North Myrtle Beach.

In addition to the alligators, Alligator Adventure is home to a variety of other reptiles and exotic animals. From massive tortoises to fascinating snakes, there’s something new to learn around every corner. The educational talks and live demonstrations give kids a deeper understanding of these incredible creatures, making the experience both fun and informative.

If you’re planning to visit, here are a couple of tips, here are a few tips for your trip to Alligator Adventure:

  • 1. Wear a hat and sunglasses — there is very little shade.
  • 2. Bring lots of water to stay hydrated, especially if you plan to visit on a hotter day. There is a concession stand for food, water, lemonade, etc.
  • 3. Wear comfortable shoes. There is quite a bit of walking.

Here is a video of our most recent trip!

Enjoy.
