HAPPY FRIDAY! I apologize for taking this long to make a new blog post, but I have been a little tired this week. #PregnancyProblems. But I was thinking of all you all week, so I couldn’t just not post something this week. And of course I could not leave you with my dope rhymes for FREESTYLE FRIDAY this week. Lol! I just know how much my lyrical prowess is envied by most (haha!). And for this week, I really have a serious RANT!
So, I am not only a mother of a toddler and soon to be newborn, but I am also a dog parent! I may have mentioned that I have a 4 year old Pitbull named Onyx Awesome Claros. He is my sweet boy, guard dog, and occasional wannabe lap dog (he thinks he is 9 pounds and not 90 pounds!). But my rant is not about him, it’s about the backlash and perception that my sweet pitbull gets, just when someone hears “Pitbull.” So, why am I ranting about this all of a sudden this week… well, on Tuesday I was out for a walk (trying to get the pregnancy weight off) and I was walking past this couple and their hoard of dogs and their GOLDEN RETRIEVER just lunged at my AND BITE ME! At first, I was completely in shock and didn’t realize what happened until the pain set in. Of course, the first thing that runs through my mind is, how this will affect the baby, so I asked for a cell phone number (and this couple was so nonchalant about their dog biting me). I practically had to beg for the number! Anyhow… after the shock wore off, my husband doing some savvy IT stuff to get more info on the couple (haha!) and a trip to Urgent Care… I was not even mad about any of that! I was more ENRAGED (more like infuriated) because I know that if my precious Pitbull would have bite somebody, my sweet boy would most likely be put down! But yet, a GOLDEN RETRIEVER, which is described as “Reliable, Friendly, Kind, Confident, Trustworthy, Intelligent” can bite me and I got the same reaction, “Awwe! They are supposed to be friendly” But would you have the same sentiment when it comes to a Pitbull? Do you think Pitbull’s are kind? Friendly? Trustworthy? Well, I am here to say that PITBULL’S ARE AWESOME! My dog is nothing but kind and playful. He just wants to play and be given attention. He does not have a malicious bone in his body. Like he is so sweet! When we brought our daughter home from the hospital and the minute he heard her cry, he started to cry! And wherever she is…he wants to be! He is so good with her. They are best friends! And she can be no so nice at times to him…
Anyhow, but honestly, the dog is not entirely to blame, it’s the PARENTS! Just like with a child, you have to work with a dog and teach them right from wrong…etc. We took our Onyx to puppy dog training not one BUT TWICE! Hmmm…I wonder why he is so sweet! So, for all the people out there that are terrible parents…there are also TERRIBLE DOG PARENTS! If you don’t want to take the time to properly train and nurture a dog, DON’T GET ONE! Spare random people like myself from getting bite because you have an ill-trained dog! Obviously, you can see that I am very passionate about this, so here is my FREESTYLE!
Please don’t buy a dog
If you are going to sit on a log
And not train it all
Please spare us the pain
of an animal ill-trained
So I don’t end up walking with a cane
And don’t hate on my Pitbull
Because you think he is vicious like a bull
It is not the breed
So be free
Of these lies
That I so despise
Because my guy is as sweet as pie
And when you meet him that is something you cannot deny
Well, how did you like those bars! I think my Onyx would feel proud lol. I know he thinks he is “neglected” because my little firecracker takes up so much of my time and attention, but he also knows that he truly is loved! I LOVE MY PITBULL and I am proud to call him mine! And I wouldn’t get another breed of dog. EVER! If you have a dog or animal, please tell me all about him or her. And have a great Friday and weekend. ENJOY!
