Freestyle Friday and Curls

When my daughter was a baby, I was really into the Rockabye Baby albums. These are lullaby versions of popular music and I had the Michael Jackson, Rihanna, and Jay Z ones. One problem, I would always get the actual songs stuck in my head. I would sing them all day, which was not a problem with the Michael Jackson one, but some of the other content I could not say out loud. That got me to thinking, if I could sing or rap to these songs, what would my version sound like… 🤔

For this Freestyle Friday, here is my version of Jay Z’s Girls, Girls, Girl…

Beautiful curls, I love you.
I love all y’all (Hehehe, hehehe)

I love my curls, curls, curls
My curls, I do adore. These curls are beautiful like nature, I know you love their bouncy behavior. (Yeah!)

Let’s holla about my crew, our curls, and so much more.

I have this one friend with beautiful type 4 curls and looks like a cover girl.   She loves to twirl them in class.  It helps her relax and takes her learning to the max. She understands all the facts and she achieves straight A’s on her report card to match. She tells everybody you better R-E-S-P-E-C-T our luxurious kinky coils and all our natural beauty. She plans to use the knowledge she easily gains like Dr. Alexa Irene Canady and become a neurosurgeon and work on the brain.

I love my curls, curls, curls.
My Curls, I do adore.
These curls are beautiful like nature, I know you love their bouncy behavior. I love my crew and we love our curls.  (Yeah!)

I have this other friend with spectacular spiral type 3 curls, who loves to expand her vernacular of languages.  She puede habla español or instead of greeting you with ‘Yo!’ She may respond to you in Igbo (Afurum Gi N’Anya(i love ya)). She loves to learn about different cultures and customs. We have lots of discussions about her induction into a prestigious organization or helping to run this great nation like Catherine Cortez Masto. But I know she can achieve even more and will be knocking on the White House door.

I love my curls, curls, curls
My curls, I do adore.
These curls are beautiful like nature, I know you love their bouncy behavior. (Yeah!) I love my crew and we love our curls.

I have this other friend with curls deep like waves and she never misbehaves. She always follows the rules and that is super cool. I am certain she will attend law school. She has no fear and it is very clear that she will be a legal trailblazer like Leah Ward Sears.

I love my curls, curls, curls
My curls, I do adore.
These curls are beautiful like nature, I know you love their bouncy behavior. (Yeah!) I love my crew and we love our curls.

As for me, my curls spiral like DNA and I hope to be like geneticist Mary Styles Harris one day.  I love to learn about cells, genes, and chromosomes. I have even started practicing with my microscope at home. After graduate school, I will determine the function of various genes and the parts that control genes throughout our genome. I can’t wait to bring numerous awards and accolades home and change medicine for generations to come.

I love my curls, curls, curls. I love how they twirl and swirl. Some people call them wild or even out of style. We call our curls beautiful and just a small element of our overall profile. We are smart, strong, fearless, and versatile. We lead, high achieve, and do it with a smile. We adore our luxurious curls but we are so much more and that will never go out of style.

Love your curls, curls, curls.
Curls all over the globe.

Definitions

Cells are the basic building blocks of all living things. The human body is composed of trillions of cells. They provide structure for the body, take in nutrients from food, convert those nutrients into energy, and carry out specialized functions. Cells also contain the body’s hereditary material and can make copies of themselves.

gene is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity. Genes are made up of DNA.

Chromosomes In the nucleus of each cell, the DNA molecule is packaged into thread-like structures called chromosomes. Each chromosome is made up of DNA tightly coiled many times around proteins called histones that support its structure.

genome is an organism’s complete set of DNAs, including all its genes. Each genome contains all the information needed to build and maintain that organism. In humans, a copy of the entire genome—more than 3 billion DNA base pairs—is contained in all cells that have a nucleus.

I hope you enjoyed that and now that the song is in your head, go ahead and hit play and freestyle your version!
