Scary books are not my genre at all, and I’m not Scary books are not my genre at all, and I’m not a fan of scary movies either. I usually read fantasy and sci-fi, but in an effort to connect with my oldest son, I jumped into the world of scary books. He enjoys the Goosebumps series and Desmond Cole Ghost Patrol, so it’s definitely something he’s into. Mackids Book sent me Read at Your Own Risk (the book photographed above) for an honest review, and I should have stuck with my usual genre and found another way to bond with my son! That said, I enjoyed the book, and it’s definitely a page-turner. I was completely spooked by the first chapter, BUT I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I had to keep reading—I was totally engrossed! Insta Framily, WHAT PART OF PARENTING IS THIS?! 😃😃 Yo, check it—I had a moment this morning! My daughter, outta nowhere, asked to rock one of my graphic tees to school. I kept it cool, didn’t wanna make it weird, but on the inside? I was straight up doing the happy dance! 💃🏾 She went through my Biggie, OutKast, Tupac, Ice-T, Ice Cube collection and ended up choosing… TLC!! I thought that was the moment right there—but nah, it got better! She hits me with, “Can we listen to some TLC?” What?! SAY LESS! I dropped a whole TLC medley: “No Scrubs,” “Unpretty,” “Waterfalls,” all the classics. And while we vibin’ out to TLC, I’m just sitting here like…how did I get this lucky? My mini-me has good taste in music AND style. 😎 Y’all, I don’t even know what this feeling is, but I am HYPE!! Nobody can tell me NOTHING today!!
