Target Induced Tantrums..

Hey! Hey! Happy Friday! And I just realized that is has been quite some time that I posted a “FreeStyle Friday.” So, I am back again for an ill freestyle …hahah! And I think this rant every parent can somewhat relate to, but in order for it to make sense, I have to give some back story.

So, this past Monday, my lil crew ventured to Target for a very quick trip to pick up a prescription and wipes. QUICK TRIP like under 15 minutes (which should be applauded right there 😂😂) but anyway… My lil firecracker is really loving the “terrible 2’s”, so I try to avoid all tantrum triggers at all cost! And I thought I won until the  infamous CHECKOUT!!

My hard work to avoid the tantrum is as follows:

  1. I made the trip short
  2. She was preoccupied eating a snack
  3. Nap time was not for another hour
  4. Completely avoided the toy section

But then we approach the checkout and what happens…. She finds some little trinket in the line that she wants …you really want an antibacterial hang gel keychain? ….so what follows next…. TANTRUM!

So, dont look at me crazy… I blame you, Target! This tantrum is all your fault Target!! I’m just saying…what adult wants to bend alllllllll the way down to the ground for some gum?!?!? But that is a wonderful distance for a toddler!!

So here goes… my freestyle

I
really do hate the checkout line

My trip was going mighty fine

Until little fingers found an item and declared it “mine”

I asked her nicely to put it back

And then she completely forgot how to act

And I am thinking, Man this is so wack

She’s 2,

so Dear Target, what do you expect me to do?

Buy it for her? So, she can turn into a spoiled brat

Nope… I will just wait this tantrum out because she always reverts back

And I keep my sanity intact

But Target, I am not the only one to blame

…..I wish we never came

Well, I hope you enjoyed my FreeStyle! I feel like I really stuck it to Target 😂😂😂. Have you had any situations like mine? If so, please share!! And please give ways to avoid and/or handle them.
Have a great weekend!

Enjoy!

  1. I’m bad. I give in. We are I’ve tantrums now and I do get a k fave bug that I can deal with. Dear old Tio Tomas still gives in. Lol

    1. That was wack. I used to give in. I don’t anymore but I get stank face that I can deal with. Tio Tomas still gives in.

      Much better. Lol.

      1. I am used to the faces because people look at her and then look at me and then at her again with the “I wonder if she is the Mom or Nanny” look so the “you kid is having a meltdown” look does not bother me one bit lol. She knows I ignore the tantrums…they are just amplified in public because that good Samaritan always wants to calm her down and she loves a crowd…so she wails even harder (with like 3 tears) … She should win an Oscar, Tony, and a Grammy 😂😂

  2. Lol… I remember those days with my younger brothers but I must say I was blessed with my princess because she never had tantrums that I can recall but what she is fully capable of is not listening. She hears everything but what you nicely asked her to do…classic!

Target is just using great marketing skills to make parents life a living hell. Lol…shout to the marketing team! After it was all said and done you still came out on top Maya! Love love love the Oscar award performance comment…I was in tears! Lol

    1. You have definitely been blessed because the minute she hears “no”…cue the music… TANTRUM lol. And now when you ask her to do something she is like “huh” (I didnt hear you) …really! Kids are funny lol. I did come out on too tho! Mom is still winning 💃🏾🙌🏾😂😂

  3. That was great expression of how alot of mothers may feel; myself included when my baby girl thought a tantrum was going to get her what she wanted

    Love ya Maya

  4. Lol that beautiful princess doesn’t do those things!! Lol just woosah and conquer “The Look”. Kids stop dead in their tracks when they see it. Tantrum over lol

  5. Love the freestyle and the story behind it! One time my niece was acting up but it wasn’t in public so I know it’s not quite the same. However, it was trying for my late teens self. Luckily, my mom was able to handle her well. This is why I’m just an auntie. lol

    1. Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog! Nieces are great practice for real kids lol. I have 6 nieces lol. I have been an auntie since I was 14 so I understand the teen-niece relationship. 😊
