Howdy! How are you? I am doing well! Just at home enjoying my toddler and newborn!! (He smells so yummy lol). With my husband home as well, I have some help, which gives me just a tad bit more time to share with you!! 😊 Today I would like to share a toddler “learn through play” activity that my little firecracker and I recently did.
1 Large Box
Washable Markers
Cup of water
Towel (optional, depending on where you do this activity)
So, for this letter watercolors activity, the directions are fairly simple.
Directions:
- Grab the large box (one reason why I love Amazon)
- Draw alphabet letters (or you could do shapes, numbers, etc..) all around the box. (I drew them in both directions, meaning some of the letters would be right side up if she was inside the box and other letters would be right side up if she was outside the box).
Activity Directions:
- Have your little one either sit inside box or outside (whichever they choose)
- Call out a letter, have your little one find it on the box, and “paint” it with the water.
Basically, anything that involves water (or making a mess) my lil firecracker loves. So, she especially loved dipping her finger in the water. After “painting” the letters, they looked like the picture below.
Tell me what you think of this activity. Would you do it with your little one? If so, how was it? What part did your little one enjoy? Did you have fun? I hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Thats all for today. Take care.
Enjoy!

Such a good idea 🙂
Thank you!!! I am glad you liked it. 😊
It’s so useful to see. I have books and letters but we haven’t played hangman in a while.
I never thought of it as hangman, but I could call out the letters to create a word! Thats an excellent idea that incorporates letters and sight words! Thanks. 😊
No problem 🙂 Glad to help.
what a wonderful idea! I love new ideas for crafts and fun for the kids! I look forward to reading more as I follow your blog! Stop by my page sometime 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Great idea, I am going to try this out with my kid. Lately I am struggling to think of activities for him that he will enjoy and this one he will as he loves . Thanks.
Thank you! Please let me know how it goes.
sorry..something wrong with the keys! I typed all wrong…i meant to say that e will enjoy this one for sure as he loves playing with water. thanks
Great one! But really hard for me to find a box that big… Maybe I shld try using a big piece of paper instead, though box would be more fun 🙂
Thanks! We have Amazon Prime, so I order a lot hence the huge box. A large piece of paper should still work!
Great idea! Oh, and newborns do smell yummy!
Thanks!! 😊😊
A box can be an alphabet, a castle, a house, a hideaway – a box has no limits for a toddler. 🙂
Yes, the versatility of boxes are amazing
OMG! Thank you so much for the link and for reading. This puts 1 million billion trillion smiles on my face lol. THANK YOU!
